Visits to Emmaus: useful details

After some issues, the synod's preparation committee wanted to provide some details regarding travel to Emmaus.

Dear parish priests and all organizing visits to Emmaus, We have begun the synodal way and we ask the blessing of the Risen Lord. The first proposed activity is a visit to Emmaus. Please follow the following instructions for visits to Emmaus:

There are three traditional sites that commemorate Emmaus in the Gospel of Saint Luke 24. One in Qubeibeh (Palestine), one in Abu Ghosh (Israel) and one known as Emmaus Nicopolis (Israel). The first is looked after by the Franciscans, the second by the Benedictines and the third by the Community of the Beatitudes. Here are directions for visiting these places.

1. Emmaus – Qubeibeh Custody of the Holy Land – the Franciscans of the Custody of the Holy Land Responsible for the site: Father. Bernard: 054 685 7892 and Father Arturo 050 776 9886 Opening hours: 8:00-12:00 and 14:00-17:00 https://www.custodia.org/en/sanctuaries/emmaus-el-qubeibeh

2. Emmaus – Abu Ghosh Benedictines of Saint Mary of Mount Olivet Responsible for the site: Brother Olivier: 052 634 2423 Opening hours: 8:30-11:00 and 14:30-17:30 (closed Sunday, but willing to receive groups by appointment in the afternoon) https://abbaye-abugosh.info/en/home/

3. Emmaus-Nicopolis (near Latroun) Community of the Beatitudes Please note: It is important to call and fix a time of visit so that the responsible of this site is informed of when the group is coming. There is an entrance fee but the leader of the group should explain that the group is there to do the synodal way and the entrance fee will be waived.
